Final Quarter 2017 Donations to go to Grounds for Health

After planting seeds in Oaxaca, Mexico, Grounds for Health is reaping a bountiful harvest of healthcare for women in coffee-growing communities around the world.

With a mission to reduce cervical cancer throughout the developing countries of the world, Grounds for Health combines their desire to increase the prevention of this life-threatening illness with the robust coffee industry. And in this final quarter of 2017, we here at Purefi Coffee Roasters are excited to donate to this worthy cause.

This organization focuses on the health of women in developing countries, specifically in the area of cervical cancer. When Dan Cox and Dr. Francis Fote learned that Mexico had some of the leading cervical cancer rates in the world back in 1996, they took action, gained support, and began serving the Oaxaca community in Mexico.

To date, Grounds for Health is in Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania. At the time of this post, they have screened over 80,000 women and treated over 6,000. The initiative continues to spread, with the desire to introduce HPV testing and thermocoagulation treatment to these clinics. In order to develop this branch of service, the group has opened up various ways for the community to contribute.

Grounds for Health is currently embarking on a unique initiative called the $200K Challenge. An anonymous donor has given them the wonderful opportunity to match the $200,000 they have been challenged to raise. The deadline is December 31, so the organization has a limited amount of time to meet the goal. With your help, we can donate towards their continued success.

Through the end of this year, Puréfi will be donating $1 for every bag sold to this outstanding initiative.  It’s an important part of spreading pure goodness throughout the world and specifically through the coffee growing community.
